South West Trains 2013 Pay Discussions

The TSSA have met with South West Trains in regard to the 2013 pay award.

 

In the first meeting we put forward our claim for the following:

· A substantial Increase to salaries.

· An increase in Regional Allowances.

· A reduction in the working week.

· An improvement in family friendly policies and provisions.

· An improvement in Annual Leave.

South West Trains took our submission away and said they would consider the TSSA submission. During that meeting South West Trains informed us of the current economic climate in the United Kingdom and how that was affecting them as a business. That their revenue did not match their predicted revenue, which included growth, at the time of their franchise bid.

The TSSA reminded SWT that our members had accepted a below RPI increase last year and that their standard of living was dropping as a result of that. The TSSA reiterated that we did not want prolonged pay discussions like last year and SWT agreed that was not acceptable. Also it was not our members fault that the growth in their business had not matched what they had predicted. The TSSA drew to the attention that there was some growth in the economy and that the London labour market had stabilised and was not worsening and possibly starting to grow.

The TSSA will meet South West Trains in early November for further discussions on this matter. We will, of course keep you advised of developments.
