South West Trains HR Reorganisation

TSSA met South West Trains recently to discuss the principles of proposed changes to its Human Resources organisation.

 

This is a result of the company reviewing HR and putting forward a proposal that they see lasting for five years - the remaining length of the franchise. They believed the current structure is too remote from line management within the company and is a function that is reactive rather than proactive. The HR department will be sub-divided as follows:

Ø Employee Wellbeing

Ø HR & OD Strategy

Ø HR Services

Ø People Development & Strategy

Ø Industrial Relations.

This reorganisation will create Area HR Business partners and will bring about a closer alignment of the Network Rail and South West Trains HR teams.

HR Services will be based at Southampton and People Development (training) will be based at Basingstoke. The area HR Business Partners will be as follows:

Ø Waterloo

Ø London/Metro

Ø Central

Ø County/Mainline

Ø Country/Portsmouth & West of England

HR Business Partners will liaise with line managers and the HR functions.

Local consultation will take place. TSSA drew management’s attention to the need for consultation, at the appropriate level, with colleagues in Network Rail affected by the proposals.
