Southern Gatwick Express Reorganisation

21 March 2013

TSSA met Southern recently to start the consultation process on the proposed reorganisation at Gatwick Airport and Victoria.

TSSA met Southern recently to start the consultation process on the proposed reorganisation at Gatwick Airport and Victoria. The company had said it would review the organisation following the TUPE transfer of the Network Rail staff at Gatwick Airport.

there are some fundamental changes to the current organisation, especially those relating to the team leader roles. TSSA emphasised there was always a need for a Team Leader – a role that was removed in the previous reorganisation that we objected to at that time.

TSSA strongly challenged the reduction in the number of ticket office clerks and the feasibility of the new Multi Skilled Team Leader and the grade the company wanted to align it to in the Southern grading structure. We also queried the number of gateline staff needed to cover all gates at Victoria Station and requested information on the amount of work that was transferring to the main ticket office at Victoria.

TSSA will be having a further meeting with the Company on this proposal and I will of course keep you advised of developments.
