Southern TUPE transfer of Management and Admin grades to Govia Thameslink Railway

18 June 2015

Following TSSA’s latest consultation meeting with Southern and Govia Thameslink Railway there remained some outstanding issues requiring clarification.

We also used the opportunity to raise some further questions with the incoming employer – set out below are the responses given:

· The transfer will take place at 01.59 on 25th July 2015.

· GTR informed TSSA of measures (proposed changes after transfer) which included:

Ø The introduction of a graduate training scheme

Ø Literacy & numeracy training scheme

Ø Expansion of Fleet Control Rail.

· Southern section of the Railway Pension Scheme will be retained. All remaining employees will remain in the Southern Section. Any new entrants in the Management and Admin grades will go into the Govia Thameslink Railway Section of the Railway Pension Scheme.

· BR protected employees transferring will retain their travel facilities. Further clarification is being sought in regard to the scope of company travel passes and the issue of retired employees who currently receive such passes. Discussions are taking place with the DfT on staff travel and TfL in regard to the possible issue of Oyster cards.

· All employees will retain their current four weekly pay pattern.

· Clarification on work locations could not currently be given and finalised.

· The Southern ‘Share in Success’ scheme has been terminated but it is hoped to start a scheme in GTR, which may have different parameters.

· For MG2&3 grades private health care is contractual but the opportunity to purchase cover for family will not be allowed. However, those who currently can purchase extra cover will be allowed to do so in the future.

TSSA members with queries should contact the TSSA Helpdesk or their TSSA representative. I will, of course, keep you updated of developments following further consultation meetings that are due to take place.
