Swindon & Chippenham: Inaugural meeting

8 July 2013

The Swindon & Chippenham Inaugural Branch meeting has been set up for Thursday 18 July 2013 at the Cricketers Arms in Swindon at 17:00 for a 17:15 start. This is your opportunity to shape how it works for you and meet your General Secretary Manuel Cortes.

Make sure that you attend

You may remember that at the end of 2012 and beginning of 2013 we were organising meetings to consult members on the potential formation of a Swindon and Chippenham Branch to cover all of our members in the area. We are now at the stage where the Executive committee has agreed to the formation of the branch and we have set a time and date to have the first meeting. It is an opportunity to discuss key issues that affect you and share ideas across the companies that we have members in.

The evening event will comprise of a Session with the General Secretary, Manuel Cortes amongst others and food and refreshments will be provided there will also be an opportunity to put your mark on how you want the branch to operate in the future not least by selecting those that you want to officer and run the branch (as a minimum we will need a Chair, Secretary and treasurer with potential to have vice Chair, Branch Organiser etc). For more information please see the TSSA rule book.

The meeting will take place in the Cricketers Arms (14 Emlyn Square, Swindon, Wiltshire, SN1 5BN) and will be open from 17:00 for a 17:15 start and will run no later than 19:15. Attending your branch meeting is free all it requires is your commitment to donate something more valuable than money, a small amount of your time!

What do I need to do?

If you can let your local workplace rep know that you are planning to attend and more importantly speak to your colleagues and encourage them to come. You may have questions around the current merger talks or have a particular issue that you want the branch to campaign on or change within your workplace. Whatever your reason the only way that you can make the branch work for you is by taking part and being involved in shaping it! We hope to see you at the meeting.
