A meeting was held in Central Station Belfast 24 March 2011 regarding the 2011 pay negotiations. Negotiation teams from all grades attended this meeting.

The company informed TSSA that because of current economic environment and in line with DRD (Department of Regional Development) recent instructions, they are proposing to enforce a two year pay freeze for employees earning over £21,000. Employees earning less this amount will be give a once off payment of £250, to be included in their wages for 2011 and this will be repeated in 2012.

All Unions are concerned with the rise in inflation and that the CPI and the RPI rates are now rising faster then expected. TSSA express the view that the above proposal from the company was a deviation from the traditional practice of pay negotiations, with the view that all unions represented negotiate with the company not with the Department of Regional Development.

TSSA request a full audit report from the company and a formal letter from the company, stating their position in writing.

TSSA waits for the above information along with the other unions, and will consult with members when the information is forwarded from the company.
