TSSA backs Sadiq Khan's call for a London Safety Review

18 April 2016

Responding to today's news that Labour's London Mayoral candidate will hold a major review of the capital's safeguards which includes transport chiefs, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said:

"It comes as a huge relief to those of us involved in keeping London's buses and trains running safely that Sadiq Khan is declaring himself to be ready to step up to the challenge of keeping London safe on day one in the job.

"Boris Johnson and his cavalier Tory administrators in City Hall have been causing genuine anxiety to those of us who both work in and use London's public transport systems and really do give a damn about London's passengers being able to travel as safely as possible.

"Sadiq's promise to call together Scotland Yard, transport chiefs, River Thames authorities and emergency services is the type of cooperative and collaborative leadership that has been missing for too long under Boris Johnson. Our task will not be easy after the destruction wrought by the Tories but we are all up for it. The winds of change are blowing through City Hall and London will be better safeguarded with Sadiq in charge."
