TSSA leader says Sadiq has missed an opportunity by not bringing Carillion staff in house

31 January 2018

Responding to the news that maintenance staff working on the London Overground East London line have been transferred to Cleshar Contract Services, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes has reacted with disappointment that Transport for London didn’t bring the contract in house.

Said Cortes:

“Sadiq’s missed a trick by transferring one set of workers who were put in a vulnerable situation by Carillion over to another similar set up. Why didn’t he bring the work in house giving our members stability and ensuring Londoners have a consistent skillset for future infrastructure and maintenance projects?

“Strong leadership of London means planning long term, not making knee jerk short-termist decisions. We have a work force in TfL that have high levels of skills being re-deployed after a series of reorganisations. The lack of forward planning is stark and the Mayor has missed an open goal here, I’m extremely disappointed.”
