TSSA on Brexit Postponed

20 March 2019

Responding to news that Theresa May is to write to The EU to request Brexit now be postponed TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes, said:

“One thousand days after the referendum May's now totally dysfunctional government is asking for Brexit to be postponed. The Tory party is in the grip of the deep civil war that Cameron's 2016 vote was supposed to prevent.

“We need a general election and a public vote to ratify any Brexit deal agreed by Parliament.

“Leavers and Remainers are equally sick and tired of Brexit. It's clear that the government never had a clear plan on how to execute it and that leaving the EU was nowhere near as simple as was promised during 2016.

“It's time to think again. May's premiership is clearly finished and the best departing gift she can give our nation is cancelling this sorry mess by revoking Article 50 and stopping Brexit in its tracks.”
