TSSA Pensions Meeting - Northern Ireland

21 June 2011

TSSA members in Translink who are members of the Northern Ireland Local Government Pension Scheme (NILGOSC) are obviously concerned about the impact of the major changes that are planned for the pension scheme. TSSA is therefore holding a meeting to find out the impact of the proposed changes and help organise to defend TSSA members' pension rights.

Included are proposals such as to change the uprating mechanism for pensions in payment, additional employee contributions and an end to the final salary schemes. The proposed changes will have a cumulative detrimental impact upon all Translink workers. In effect it means you work longer, pay more but get less!

The TSSA will be holding a meeting to find out the impact of the proposed changes for your pension and to help organise to defend TSSA members' pension rights.
The meeting will take place:

  • Thursday 23rd June 2011
  • Europa Hotel
  • Starting at 6.00pm

It is crucial that as many members as possible attend the meeting. Due to the importance of the issue we have opened the event to all staff from Translink in clerical, supervisory and managerial grades. Speak with your work colleagues and encourage them to attend.

This is an issue that can not be ignored, if we do not defend our pensions now we run the risk of Translink workers having to pay more and work longer for less pension.

Gerry Doherty, General Secretary of the TSSA and a representative of NILGOSC will be in attendance at the meeting.
