TSSA remain ready to Strike at Bus Éireann

5 March 2017

Tomorrow's all out strike at Bus Éireann has been postponed to allow last minute talks at the Workplace Relations Commission to go-ahead. TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes will lead the talks for TSSA.

Said Cortes,

"It appears from media reports that, at long last, Transport Minister, Shane Ross, has found his wallet and the CIE shareholder is prepared to fund voluntary severances at Bus Éireann. Great to see that he has finally come out from hiding, but making public transport workers wait until beyond the 11th hour for him to make an appearance is no way to promote good industrial relations or inspire confidence that he knows what he is doing.

"Our union will be attending tomorrow's talks at the Workplace Relations Commission in good faith and with a view to seeking a resolution which keeps Bus Éireann on the road. I hope the Company is now prepared to do likewise and get on with the difficult business of discussing how jointly we pave a path away from Bus Éireann 's current difficulties. If this is not the case, our members remain ready to resist the company's war against them and a strike will become inevitable."
