TSSA Reps Back Ballot on NR Improved Pay Offer

29 May 2015

TSSA reps have agreed a ballot on the improved pay offer which averted the Bank Holiday strike at Network Rail.

The reps, leading 3,000 members at the public sector rail firm, agreed a referendum on the offer in London today. It will now go out to a secret ballot over the next two weeks.

Lorraine Ward, union chief negotiator at NR, said:

"With the expected cuts in the public sector from the new Tory government, our members were as much concerned about job security as they were about pay.

"This offer means there will be no compulsory redundancies at NR for at least the next two years. Given the current climate, we think this is a major advance."

The result of the TSSA ballot will be announced on June 13.
