TSSA send condolences after Bavarian rail crash

9 February 2016

Responding to the sad news of this morning's serious rail crash in Bavaria, Manuel Cortes' thoughts are with the families of those who've lost their lives.

Responding to the sad news of this morning's (Tuesday 9 February 2016) serious rail crash in Bavaria, General Secretary of TSSA, Manuel Cortes, said:

"Our first thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives this morning as well as all those injured and affected by this tragic accident. Events like this just remind us of how crucial safety is on our railways. The UK trains are the safest in Europe as a result of the creation of publicly-owned Network Rail. Sadly, there is now talk about changing the way our rail infrastructure is run. Politicians would be well-advised not to seek changes to this fine safety record for narrow ideological preconceptions. It's not broken, so why fix it?"
