TSSA to join Bus Eireann 'peace talks'

13 May 2013

TSSA leader Manuel Cortes has said his union would be joining the peace talks tonight in an attempt to resolve the Bus Eireann dispute.

But he called for "a period of silence" from Ministers to allow both sides to reach a deal "without political grandstanding".

"Everyone knows how serious this issue is and how we should work together to resolve it. It is now time for the politicians to stand aside and to stop trying to score cheap political points. A period of silence from them would be most welcome."

He said he was confident that his 250 members at Bus Eireann would be voting for strike action in a ballot to be announced on Thursday. In the meatime, they had chosen not to cross any picket lines.
