TSSA Tube talks at ACAS update

23 January 2017

TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes will join TSSA negotiators returning to talks with London Underground at Advice and Conciiiaton Advisory Service (ACAS) today to support efforts being made to resolve a dispute about under-staffing on the Tube and a consequent decline in safety standards.

As Mayor of London Boris Johnson culled nearly 900 Tube jobs which closed ticket offices, have left the tube understaffed, cut-into security protocols, increased congestion at stations and caused a huge spike in passenger frustrations which in turn has led to intolerable surges in verbal and physical abuse from passengers to our members.

Said Cortes,"The clock is ticking and we need an agreement by the end of this week or sadly, further strikes will follow. Our negotiating team remains committed to reaching a resolution which ends this long-standing dispute. We want to ensure that Boris's last act of vandalism on Londoners is undone so that our Tube is once again safe for both passengers and staff".
