TSSA urges London Mayor to intervene in Tube talks

25 January 2017

As TSSA talks at ACAS with London Underground (LU) resume today, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes is urging London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan, to intervene and tell LU to get their finger out and reach a deal by Friday.

"We have now being in talks at ACAS with London Underground since last month. LU are fully aware that if a deal is not reached by Friday, sadly, further strikes will follow. The Mayor, LU, passengers and our union all agree hundreds more staff are needed on our Tube. Time for LU to raise their game and put on the table proposals that do just that and ensure that our Tube is once again safe for both passengers and staff'," said Mr Cortes.

"Frankly, if no deal is possible, London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan will need to deal with the consequences of having staff on our Tube whose morale has gone through the floor and who are also, understandably, angry because of chronic staff shortages. He should step in without delay and tell LU to pull their finger out.'
