TSSA Welcomes DB Cargo Negotiations On Pay Deal

26 November 2018

Rail Freight company DB Cargo have agreed to return to the negotiating table in their ongoing dispute with Control Staff over pay and conditions.

As a result the union has suspended all industrial action for one week to allow meaningful talks to take place. Industrial action short of a strike had been due to commence on Tuesday 27th November.

Commenting, TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes, said: “I welcome DB Cargo’s decision to get around the table and talk to us about the fair deal which our members certainly deserve.

“However, our members remain strong and determined to make a real change in their pay and conditions; DB Cargo should be in no doubt about this.

“These members have gone without a pay rise for three years. They have been loyal and patient in a bid to help the company and this must now be reciprocated.

“Make no mistake, the reason why DB Cargo are eager to get back to the negotiating table is due to collective strength and determination of our Control Staff members in being prepared to take action.”

Planned Industrial Action short of a strike would include no rest day working, no cross cover of work, no driver resourcing and work to agreed roster only. This action would be continuous, all day, every day.

The ballot among key Control Staff was held after union members walked out of negotiations in September when the company failed to make a reasonable offer on pay and improvements to members’ terms and conditions.
