TSSA welcomes Labour's rail fare freeze

13 April 2015

TSSA leader Manuel Cortes, who has been campaigning for a Labour fares freeze for over 12 months, welcomed Labour's decision to freeze rail fares from January 2016.

"We regard this as a very good first step in ending the annual fare increase torture that millions have endured these past 20 years since the Tories foolishly sold off our railways," he said.

"We want that freeze to be extended for at least another year in 2017 when Labour gets down to getting rid of the ‘get rich quick’ private rail franchises, the only people who have been making money out the privately owned railway these past two decades."
