TSSA welcomes T-charge

23 October 2017

Welcoming Labour Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan's Toxicity-charge coming into force today, TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said:

"Sadiq's lead on this is another example of #ForTheMany policy making a difference to the lives of millions of people in the Capital.

"Transport Minister Grayling and the Chancellor should play follow the Labour leader on this too and rise to the global climate change challenge.

"Pollution across the country, not just London, is shaving years off our lives. The coming Autumn Budget should announce more investment in public transport which serves to unclog Britain's roads and get us to work more efficiently.

"This is the right thing to do for our citizens and our shared planet. Our country desperately needs more brave decisions on public transport projects. But after the Tories cancelled the rail electrification projects across Britain over the summer and are withholding money from Network Rail to upgrade tracks across the country, I won't be holding my breath for the Tories to deliver."
