Tube talks update

1 February 2017

TSSA talks with London Underground (LU) to clarify points of concern within their proposals to return staffing and adequate safety levels to the Tube will continue tomorrow and Friday.

"In the meantime," said TSSA leader Manuel Cortes, "Our negotiating team is working with both our members and their elected reps to ensure their concerns about ringfencing minimum safety standards going forward are met. The safety of London's passengers and it's transport staff should never again be used as a political football and downgraded to suit the financial priorities of either government ministers looking to make cuts or city hall elected reps dancing to central Government's tune. The Tories have been playing a dangerous game of slash and burn with tube safety which has and, continues to cause mayhem on the Underground.

"Our strike action is suspended but we remain in dispute with LU and our overtime ban is still in place until such time that all matters concerning our members are concluded."
