Ulster Transport staff vote to strike on November 30th

14 November 2011

77% of members vote to support strike action on the Pensions Day of Action.

Transport services will be disrupted across Northern Ireland during the public services strike on November 30, the TSSA travel union announced today.

Over 300 clerical workers at Ulster Bus and Northern Ireland Railways will walk out on the day after a big strike vote to support the protest.

In a secret ballot, conducted by Electoral Reform Services, 77.2% of members voted to strike with 22.8% voting against.

Patrick McCusker, senior Irish organiser for the union, said:

"There is a lot of anger out there at the threat to public sector pensions and this has been reflected in the vote."
