Union warns winter rail cancellations are set to increase as dispute with Scotrail continues.

31 October 2019

TSSA today reveals that flexing its industrial muscle is boosting its popularity amongst rail workers.

More than 30 Scotrail workers have joined the union since its work to rule began in a dispute because franchise managers Abellio want driver managers to drive trains.

Almost 170 scheduled trains have failed to run in October after TSSA management members refused to compromise rail safety and substitute for low driver numbers.

TSSA General Secretary Manuel Cortes says “Abelliio are once again failing staff and public with their failure to resolve the concerns of their own manage to members.”

And he warns more trains will be cancelled as winter sets in unless Abellio start recruiting more properly trained drivers.,
