A meeting attended by all Unions within the CIE groups was held 20 January 2011 in Dublin.

The company requested feedback from all the Unions regarding the financial position of CIE Group pension funds; a round of Q&A followed this from all Unions.

The fund is facing a deficit (like all pensions funds) this meeting was to give the Unions the opportunity to raise questions on the information that has been forwarded to all Unions since the last meeting.

The company informed all the Unions that the most up to date information on the Pension fund should be available in mid March, and will forward this information to all Unions as a matter of urgency.

TSSA stated it cannot recommend any action to the CIE Holding Group or to the members of the fund, until all relevant up to date information is forwarded to the Unions for examination. It would not be appropriate at this stage to engage in any negotiations or to blindly talk about issues that we do not have the full and relevant information on.

A discussion took place regarding the GP scheme and the costs of this scheme. The company will be writing to all Unions regarding a suggested increase in the amount paid by members. The Unions again stated that the company will have to include in this correspondence their intentions and reason for a request for increase of contributions from the members.

Your union reiterated that this is an extremely tough financial time for our members and that any proposals from them needs to take this into account.

TSSA will keep you informed of any suggested change in the GP scheme as the information is received from the company.
