Virgin Trains East Coast: Customer Solutions Recognition Update

We have now received the Company's formal proposal for a union recognition agreement and collective bargaining procedure covering staff working in the Customer Solutions Centre in Gosforth. Although there is still some work to do on the detail of the agreement, it means that members will soon have a direct say in the major issues that affect them, including their pay, hours, and holidays.

This is great news for members in Gosforth, and the timing means the Company has today confirmed that Customer Solutions staff will be covered by the forthcoming pay negotiations and will receive the same settlement as other VTEC employees. The strength of any recognition agreement is directly linked to the number of staff in union membership. There has never been a better time to join TSSA, as we are currently pressing VTEC to widen the scope of the agreement beyond the core issues above to specifically include pensions, equal opportunities, training and development, resourcing, organisational change, and other conditions of employment.

The Company are now considering the points made at today’s meeting, and will provide us with a revised proposal in the near future. Meanwhile, we need to continue to build TSSA membership in Gosforth in preparation for the final agreement and election of union representatives.
