Volker Rail: Pay Dispute

6 September 2011

As you will no doubt be aware, your representatives have been engaged in prolonged negotiations with your employer over the issue of the 2011 pay award. Despite numerous meetings, little in the way of progress has been made.

Our door is always open and TSSA are willing to continue negotiating on member’s behalf, yet Volker Rail are still adamant that there will be no pay award for 2011.

This will be the second year without a pay award. Members have made it quite clear that this is unacceptable and that they wish to be balloted for industrial action.

TSSA does not take the decision to ballot for industrial action lightly, but in light of the company's failure to make a satisfactory pay offer we are left with little choice.

As a result we have today (6th of September 2011) notified your employer of our intention to ballot members for industrial action.

Ballot for Industrial Action

From the 14th of September you will be issued with a ballot form asking members if they support taking industrial action consisting of strike action and/or industrial action short of strike action. Members are being urged to vote 'YES' to both questions.

Zero pay? No way!

You are constantly been told how much Volker Rail values your dedication and hard work. Isn’t it time they put their money where their mouth is and give our members a pay rise they deserve?

Not too late to join

Please speak to your colleagues about this dispute. If you are aware of colleagues who are not members but wish to join please ask them to contact the TSSA Helpdesk on 0800 3282673 or see their local rep or workplace contact.
