VolkerRail Pay Dispute 2011 : Update

A very clear mandate from our members in VolkerRail - over 80% of returned votes were in favour of taking industrial action.

 

VOLKERRAIL: Pay Dispute Ballot Result.

We recently balloted you and all other TSSA members in VolkerRail in respect of the ongoing 2011 pay dispute.

We had a good turn out to the ballot and received a very clear mandate from our members – over 80% of returned votes were in favour of taking industrial action be it in the form of a strike or action short of strike.

Next Steps

Your representatives met with your employer yesterday where we discussed the outcome of the ballot and again made them aware that TSSA members would not simply roll over and accept another zero percent pay rise. TSSA never takes the decision to ballot members for industrial action lightly and likewise we will always carefully consider our members interests before deciding on what action to take. We made the company aware that we are still more than willing to negotiate on pay and invited them to ‘get back round the table’. We await a response to this invitation.

It is our aspiration that VolkerRail will see sense and make an offer to our members.

We are expecting the company to respond to the above sometime during week commencing 17th of October, at which stage we will contact members again to update on the situation. If no progress has been made at this stage we will be left with no choice but to call on you to join with your colleagues in taking some form of industrial action.

Recruit a Colleague

Although the ballot is now closed any of your colleagues who join us will be eligible to take part in industrial action. The more members we have the stronger our voice and the more VolkerRail will sit up and take notice.  Please speak to colleagues who are not members and urge them to join TSSA today.
