Vouchers for Leavers Consultation (also known as Blue Vouchers)

27 October 2010

TSSA have put forward amendments to the proposal as previously advised and one of those amendments has been accepted and put forward to the trade unions. I am aware that the two other unions have accepted that proposal and the TSSA believe that this is a substantial improvement.

The amendment is as follows ‘employees who leave and meet the leaving reason / length of employment criteria will retain any unused vouchers from their employee entitlement and be able to spend theses after they have left Eurostar. They must however spend these within the 15 year period following their last day of employment’.

Therefore the final proposal is as below with the added clause above:

1. Eurostar Vouchers

Employees with 10 years Eurostar employment who leave on the grounds of:
- Ill Health Severance; or
- Redundancy (Compulsory or Voluntary); or
- Retirement at normal retirement age under the pension scheme rules

will receive 80 vouchers to spend at any time within the 15 year period following their last day of employment

Employees with 10 years Eurostar employment who leave on the grounds of retirement before normal retirement age under the pension scheme and who provide proof that they are taking immediate pension:
will receive 80 vouchers to spend at any time within the 15 year period following their last day of employment

2. PALS proposal

Leavers who qualify for Eurostar Vouchers in section 1 above will continue to receive 10 PALS booking opportunities per annum (the same as their employee entitlement). In addition to being able to use these for friends and family, they will also be able to book additional journeys for themselves at PALS rates. These PALS booking opportunities remain in place for the remainder of their lives.

3. Retirement Awards proposal

Leavers with 10 years employment who leave Eurostar under the reasons / criteria set out in section 1 will receive a £300 award (shopping voucher).

Until such time as agreement is reached on sections 1, 2 and 3 above, Eurostar cannot apply the current policies on Eurostar Vouchers, PALS and Retirement Awards and any leavers from 1/10/10 will be informed that the new policy will be applied to them once agreed with Company Council.

Next Steps

Company Council will respond to final proposal by close of 02/11/10.

Your Comments

We believe that the new proposals are an improvement on what on the original and the retention of the unused vouchers is a great improvement.

We would appreciate your comments before we respond to the company on whether we agree with the new proposals and invite you to do so by emailing childn@tssa.org.uk no later than Monday 1st November 2010.
