Women into Leadership and Management courses in TSSA Scotland

Two new special courses for women in Scotland are open for applications today. 

1. The Women into Leadership and Management Award course

The course will be delivered with a strong emphasis on the issues specifically affecting women in the workplace and covers:

  • Understanding Leadership: understanding leadership styles, understanding roles and responsibilities, understanding leadership qualities, reviewing your own leadership qualities and potential
  • Contributing to Innovation and Creativity in the Workplace: understanding what innovation is, how innovation can be applicable in the workplace, identifying drivers for innovation, identifying obstacles to innovation and understanding the use of creativity in the workplace
  • Developing Yourself and Others: knowing how to identify development needs, know how to develop yourself and others to achieve organisational needs

The units are individually accredited with successful completion of all three units leading to the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management. These units can also be added to in future to provide the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management.

The format of the course is 1 full day of class work followed by email and telephone support while the learner completes their assignment which is in the form of a written report based on their workplace experience and their own career development plans.

The course is open to staff in Network Rail, ScotRail and other companies where we have membership. YOU MUST LIVE IN SCOTLAND!

2. The Women into Leadership and Management Certificate course

This is only open to women who have already completed the WILM Award course in 2015-16!

This follow on course will allow the women to earn enough credits to convert their Award into a Certificate in Leadership and Management, which will improve their employability within Network Rail. All the women who took part in last year’s course and earned at least 4 credits (by passing two or more units) will be eligible for this course. There will be 8 classroom sessions, including 1 “catch up” day.

The course will be delivered with a strong emphasis on the issues specifically affecting women in the workplace and covers:

  • Understanding Conflict Management in the Workplace (1 credit)
  • Understanding Training and Coaching in the Workplace (2 credits)
  • Understanding Negotiation and Networking in the Workplace (1 credit)
  • Giving Briefings and Making Presentations (2 credits)
  • Understanding Stress Management in the Workplace (1 credits)

The units are individually accredited with successful completion of all 7 leading to the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

 

The format of the course is 1 full day of class work followed by email and telephone support while the learner completes their assignment which is in the form of a written report based on their workplace experience and their own career development plans.

The course is open to the eligible women in Network Rail, ScotRail and other companies where we have membership. YOU MUST LIVE IN SCOTLAND!
