Great Western Railway: Managers Pay 2020

10 September 2019

Our union wants to ensure that GWR TSSA management trade union representatives have a say in what their pay increase should be in 2020 and beyond.

July 2019 marked the end of the last negotiated pay deal for the collectively bargained grades. TSSA has consistently lobbied the company during the 3-year deal for managers to receive no less than other grades. Thankfully you have benefited by receiving the same percentage rise as other grades over those years.

Next year will mark the start of fresh pay negotiations but we risk a situation where again there will be no management representatives sat around the table negotiating for the elements of pay that are important to you! This is because GWR will not volunteer to recognise TSSA to bargain on behalf of your grade.

The ideal position is for managers in Great Western Railways to have an agreed mechanism in place to collectively bargain on your behalf with management representatives in the room trained and supported by TSSA. In this way you have a voice from your peers who know and understand the issues that you face but have support from an Independent trade union with a history of standing up to protect and represent management, professional & technical, revenue protection and clerical grades.

The best way to achieve this is by having a stronger trade union membership in the management grades. We need your help in talking to your colleagues and encouraging them to join. For a short one-off period of time this task is made easier! The TSSA Swindon & Chippenham Branch successfully passed a motion at this year’s TSSA annual conference to add an incentive for new joiners and those that recruit non-members.

In line with this motion we are offering a one-off special offer to people who join on recruitment week between Monday 16thSeptember and Friday 20thSeptember– 50per centoff their membership subs for 24 weeks!

For existing members our EC hasdecided that any member who recruitstwoor more new members between 16thand 20thSeptember will receive arefund of half your subscriptions for 24 weeks.

So now more than ever you’ve got an incentive to get out there and talk to your colleagues - because recruiting makes a big difference. Make sure your colleagues fill your name in the “Recruited By” box.
