Labour 'Cuts Johnson Down To Size' Over October Election - Cortes

6 September 2019

TSSA General Secretary, Manuel Cortes, has responded to the news that Labour and other opposition parties have agreed not to back Boris Johnson’s demand for a general election before the October EU Summit.

Labour, the Lib Dems, the SNP and Plaid Cymru say they will vote against or abstain in Monday's vote on whether to hold a snap poll.

Manuel Cortes said: “Johnson and his Bullingdon chums think they are born to rule the world while we, as mere plebs, must do what they want.

“Well today this sorry excuse for the Prime Minister and his 16th Century pal, Rees-Mogg have been firmly told that power lies with the people in the form of our elected MPs.

“Johnson's October general election is no more – it's a dead parrot. He's been cut down to size, from Bullingdon bully to a hostage of our parliamentary democracy.

“His no-deal Brexit is dead in the water too.”
