Oh dear what can the matter be?

3 December 2019

Overcrowded Scotrail trains led to two passengers spending hours perched in the toilet last weekend. The Glasgow to Aberdeen line was closed for planned maintenance so passengers had to transfer at Edinburgh but trains at Haymarket were already standing room only when hundreds of travellers tried to get on.

TSSA Leader Manuel Cortes said “No-one should have to travel in the toilet because there’s no space in the train carriage. Abellio’s desperate grab for profits in the first years of the ScotRail franchise have left the company with serious long-term problems in terms of train fleet and staffing that create situations like this.

"Scotrail staff do their best in difficult circumstances and all credit to them for it. But it's time for Abellio to go.

“TSSA has long said that Transport Minister Michael Matheson should find the courage to stand up for passengers and take ScotRail back from Abellio. If he won’t then a Labour government will!
