TSSA announce strike action dates for Virgin Trains West Coast

1 December 2017

TSSA members in Virgin West Coast, TSSA have announced six 24 hour strike dates in December and January, starting on Friday 15 December. We have also informed the company we reserve the right to take further days if necessary.

The action will be taken by members of ticket office, platform and supervisory staff along the West Coast Mainline from Glasgow to Euston. It follows a ballot of members who voted overwhelmingly for strike action in a dispute about disparity of wage rises.

TSSA leader Manuel Cortes said:
"Our members are genuinely shocked and upset the company is not treating them fairly. They put in as hard a shift as anyone else within Virgin West Coast and expect pay justice. Frankly, for the company to cherry pick drivers for a pay deal better than the rest of their staff is not only insulting but terrible management.

“Nobody wants to be on strike at Christmas time and nobody has to be if Richard Branson stops behaving like Scrooge and starts treating his workers fairly and equally. We’d like him to order the company back to the negotiating table to resolve this dispute asap so workers and passengers all have a good Christmas."

Further strike days are currently scheduled for December 22, January 5, January 8, January 26 and January 29.
