TSSA claims victory as Abellio agrees to recognise them for Fort William Contact Centre

13 August 2018

Manuel Cortes today welcomed the news that Abellio had finally agreed to recognise TSSA for their Contact Centre in Fort William and thanked the Lochaber Times for their support.

Cortes said “Abellio have finally agreed to recognise their employees right to have union representation at Fort William which will bring greater security for our members who are worried about job cuts".

"Over half the workforce in the Fort William Contact Centre have already joined our union and I really look forward to welcoming more into our TSSA family in the next few weeks".

“Abellio have been in touch today to confirm that they will be recognising our union and our members right to collective bargaining. We have been working on this for a long time so we are delighted that the Company is now doing the right thing by agreeing to sign a voluntary deal".

“Thank you too to the Lochaber Times for exposing past union-busting tactics which have no place in Fort William or anywhere else. We are looking forward to sitting down with Abellio over the next few weeks to finalise an agreement".

“I will be in Fort William tomorrow (Tuesday) and really look forward to meeting our new members then.”
