TSSA secures recruitment freeze at Network Rail

12 February 2020

Your TSSA Reps have now secured agreement from Network Rail to an immediate blanket freeze on recruitment and reorganisations.

This is a necessary measure which we insisted upon to prevent the Company filling roles that could provide suitable alternative employment for our members potentially displaced by PPF changes.

Previous communications highlighted the Company’s reluctance to agree to an immediate freeze. But members and reps provided multiple examples of roles which were being externally advertised that could be expected to be filled via PPF closed listing or redeployment which were critical in helping us to make a persuasive and coherent challenge to the business.

We have now been able to negotiate a National Principles document for PPF which provides significant additional protection for those of you impacted by deeper devolution. The full jointly agreed document will be available to read on MyConnect from midday Thursday 13 February.

We have now also agreed a timetable for National, Regional and Functional consultation and multiple stages of closed listing. It is time to end the uncertainty and continue our work as a Union to ensure that all our members who want to stay in the business are redeployed as quickly and painlessly as possible.
