Education

Developing and investing in educational opportunities for our membership and activist base is key to building the strong union we aspire to. 

In conjunction with the exceptional educational programme already provided by the GFTU Educational Trust which is free to members, this partnership will offer tailored educational and development opportunities that will further strengthen our union. 

We are currently offering three courses, with more to follow. 

TSSA Reps Induction (Online)

This is a one-day online course designed to provide introductory training for new TSSA representatives and individuals interested in some initial training to help their role.

Starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm, this course will provide a foundation to tackle the important issues at work.

TSSA Workplace Reps stage 1 (Residential)

*This course has now passed and future TSSA specific dates are being organised.
Please see other reps courses offered by GFTU in the meantime. 

This is a five-day course. It consists of three residential days at Quorn Grange Hotel (Loughborough), followed by two online follow-up days a month later. This course is designed for representatives who wish to enhance their skills and deepen their understanding of their role as a workplace representative within our union. This course is intended for representatives who have completed reps induction course, or equivalent experience.

This course is intended for representatives who have completed the Stage 1 course or have equivalent experience.

GFTU Education Programme

The TSSA is an affiliate to the GFTU Educational Trust, who run an extensive education programme for trade unionists. Most of the courses are free for TSSA members to attend and they offer a mix of in-person and online training sessions.
