Manuel Cortes calls for end to attacks on public transport workers

Manuel Cortes, TSSA General Secretary, hascalled for an end to attacks on public transport workers in Northern Ireland after two serious attacks in the last week.

A bus was hijacked and set on fire on the Shankill Road on 7 April. A car was set on fire and abandoned on a railway line in Magilligan.

Manuel Cortes said:

"These events are individually appalling and together represent an alarming trend. Transport workers have been the unsung heroes of the pandemic, risking their lives to keep the country moving. They should not be targeted for violence.

"Workers everywhere must be free to carry out their duties without fear or attack."
