Job title: Communications and Media Officer Fixed Term – 12 Months
Job Location: London, Liverpool Street office
Hours: 34 hours per week, full time
Salary: £47,972 plus London weighting (£5,928) per annum

TSSA is a trade Union that represents people working in transport and travel. TSSA places its members at the heart of our union and aims to campaign on matters that are important to them. To achieve this, we need a highly skilled communications team that will ensure TSSA has a communications strategy that will influence our internal and external audiences. We have a vacancy for a Communications and Media Officer who will work within our Communications team to help us deliver this.

This role requires you to work closely with the Head of Communications and your wider team to contribute to our unions broad campaigning aims and messages. Within the role you will act as editor of our print and online membership publications and communications alongside implementing press and online media campaigns that ensure we have regular website and social media content. You will act as press officer for England and Wales identifying and delivering opportunities for multimedia coverage that will raise the profile of the Union. Our Communications Officers work closely with our organising teams to develop leverage via press stories to contribute to our bargaining outcomes.

We are looking for a self-starter with creative flair who already has experience of working in a communication focused role with a strong track record in generating copy and delivering successful communication campaigns. You will have excellent influencing skills that allow you to build relationships with journalists. You will have expertise in using digital and social media content as a campaigning tool that will ensure we have the press exposure and recognition of our work amongst our membership and external stakeholders. In this fast-paced digital world, you must be ready to continuously expand your existing knowledge.

Your office base will be London, Liverpool Street. The role will require future travel across your region and at times nationally.
