Our executive committee is responsible for managing and supervising the affairs of the association, and for determining and directing policy in between annual conferences.

The executive committee meets ten times a year at our head office, Walkden House.
Executive committee members are elected by secret ballot of the members in their divisional council area, normally for a three-year term of office.

Melissa started working for Central Trains as a Rail Operator Grade 2 Supervisor at Longbridge station when she was 17. In 2004 she moved into Control and currently works as a Route Operations Controller.

Melissa joined TSSA after moving into Control becoming the local H&S rep about a year later and the Joint Safety Council (JSC) Rep soon after that. She still holds both positions with the H&S Functional Council Rep which was brought in as a middle ground between local level and JSC several years ago. Melissa’s very proud to also be a lay tutor having completed her Level 4 PTTLS qualification to do so.

In addition to her role as EC member M is also her Branch’s Correspondence and Financial Secretary. She’s also a member of the TSSA Health & Safety Strategy Group. Prior to being on the EC she was also Divisional Council Secretary.

Melissa’s a member of her local Labour Party member and has door knocked for local MP's and Councillors.

In her free time she likes to show Beagles in order to qualify them to compete at the biggest dog show in the world...Crufts! Melissa also loves live music and helps organise two local community events each year by helping to arrange the musical entertainment.
