Avanti members vote yes for strike action!
Members at Avanti West Coast have voted overwhelmingly in favour of both strike action and action short of strike in a ballot which closed today (Tuesday 23 November).
A massive 84.7% of members voted in favour of strike action and a huge 89% voted in favour of action short of a strike.
TSSA is in dispute with Avanti West Coast as a result of a severe breakdown in relations and had to resort to balloting members for strike action.
Members working in station grades at Avanti West Coast should have seen ballot papers arrive at your home address in recent days.
On the question of strike action, the results were:
Number of ballot papers returned: | 112 |
Number of papers found to be invalid: | 1 |
Total number of valid papers to be counted: | 111 |
Numbers voting YES: 94 (84.7% of valid vote)
Numbers voting NO: 17 (15.3% of valid vote)
TOTAL: 111 (100% of valid vote)
On the question of action short of strike, the results were:
Number of ballot papers returned: | 112 |
Number of papers found to be invalid: | 3 |
Thus, total number of valid papers to be counted: | 109 |
Numbers voting YES: 97 (89% of valid vote)
Numbers voting NO: 12 (11% of valid vote)
TOTAL: 109 (100% of valid vote)
