Avanti Stations' Roster

On Wednesday 30th October the Stations Company Council representatives, along with TSSA and RMT Full-Time Officers, met with Avanti Management to discuss the recently issued Precis for Station Consultation – Station Rosters document. This document forms the basis of a proposal for new rosters.

At the meeting, the staff-side explained that the document was lacking in vital detail: the precis used figures based on Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) roles as of the end of the 2023/24 financial year and those in the proposed establishment, whereas a truer picture would be given by the station establishment FTE: i.e. the number of roles previously agreed to cover the workload. For example, Avanti’s precis may show an increase in roles from the financial year end but mask an overall decrease in headcount due to unfilled positions.

All staff should be aware that the Stations Company Council has not agreed any of these proposals and has registered a ‘Fail to Agree’ with regard to the precis.

The company intends to take the individual proposals to each location and LLC reps should be prepared for each meeting, by having necessary release time to go through the precis/proposals. NB: the company are able this to local level even though agreement has not been reached at Company Council.

At each meeting a minimum of two reps will be required, and where no local rep exists, or there is a single rep, the company council rep will appoint further reps to support.
