Transport and travel union TSSA has welcomed the government’s new Employment Rights Bill, describing it as a ‘pathway to a better Britain’.

The draft legislation – put before Parliament today – reflects Labour’s promise of a ‘New Deal for Working People’ and contains a raft of measures to strengthen workers’ rights.

As a Labour affiliated union TSSA has been instrumental in the New Deal and the movement towards this legislation.

Commenting, TSSA General Secretary, Maryam Eslamdoust said: “We are pleased to see the government move within the first hundred days to put these vital measures before Parliament.

“The Employment Rights Bill is the first step on the pathway towards a better Britain after fourteen years of Conservative chaos.

"We are encouraged by the progressive steps this Bill takes to address key concerns for transport workers. These reforms will bring much-needed improvements to working conditions and will help create a more stable and supportive environment for transport and travel workers.

“Further progressive measures are expected to be implemented in secondary legislation, and we are keen to support these initiatives as they develop, ensuring our transport and travel members have access to improved rights and protections.

“Our members and indeed every worker in the country deserves nothing less.”
