Labour affiliated transport and travel union TSSA has welcomed Keir Starmer’s remarks at Labour Conference in which the Prime Minister challenged Reform UK, saying the choice for the country was between decency with Labour or division under Nigel Farage.

Speaking in Liverpool the Prime Minister also said Britain was facing a “fork in the road”, urging voters to stick with renewal under this government or face economic decline.

Commenting, TSSA General Secretary, Maryam Eslamdoust said: “Our union welcomes much in this speech from Keir Starmer when it comes to taking on the threat from Reform and Nigel Farage.

“The best way to build a better Britain is through a strong public realm, with a state which works to eradicate poverty, which at its heart has a flourishing National Health Service and a brilliant education system.

“It also demands public transport networks which are properly funded and run for all in our communities. Our rail network is the driver of economic growth up and down the land.

“And crucially, the best way to take on Reform is for Labour to fight for decent homes, good unionised jobs and strong communities, tackling the roots of division, not just its symptoms.

“The task for Labour now is to deliver this vision at pace. We will work with them in doing so.”
