TSSA Backs Starmer Over Public Railways
Transport and travel union TSSA today welcomed Keir Starmer's commitment to returning transport to public hands in his keynote speech to Labour’s Annual Conference in Liverpool.
The Prime Minister was given a standing ovation when reaffirming the government’s commitment to the Railway Services Bill which “puts railways back in public hands.”
Responding, TSSA General Secretary Maryam Eslamdoust, said: “It was good to hear Keir Starmer putting public ownership of our railways at the heart of his speech to Labour Conference.
“Rightly the Prime Minister spoke of building a Britain that belongs to the people, a far cry from the long wasted years of Tory rule. This can only happen with rail and the wider transport network in public hands again and that is the only way to build strong local, regional and national economies.
“Our union will work with Labour to make sure all this is delivered, as a duty to our members, industries and the country beyond.”
