TSSA calls for Scottish Government to drop Israeli-linked settlement firm 

Rail union TSSA is calling on the Scottish Government to drop Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) from a train bidding process over its links to the expansion of illegal settlements. 

CAF is among a shortlist of five manufacturers selected to compete to replace ScotRail’s suburban rail fleet in the coming years. The move has prompted fury – with sister union ASLEF saying train drivers will refuse to work on new ScotRail trains if the company wins the contract. 

Commenting, TSSA General Secretary, Maryam Eslamdoust said: "The Scottish Government should think again and make it clear that no train across Scotland's railways should be built by a company involved in any way with the expansion of illegal settlements. 

"To do otherwise would be both to ignore and to increase the suffering of the Palestinian people. Our union stands in solidary with ASLEF members in Scotland and fully supports the position they have taken."
