TSSA Executive Committee Meeting – Minutes for Branches & Website

17 - 18 September 2024, Hybrid meeting – Head Office & Zoom

The September 2024 hybrid TSSA Executive Committee (EC) meeting took place in person at the TSSA London HQ and via Zoom.

EC members attended in person and online, as well as key staff who were presenting different reports and items.

EC meetings tend to be split over two days, and this meeting took place from 17-18 September 2024. This time however, the first day was used for EC business and the second day was used for governance training for all EC members.

The summary below covers the main elements that were discussed during the meeting.

EC Meeting Part 1 – 17 September 2024

Summary of agenda

  • The EC discussed improvements to how documentation for EC meetings could be made
  • The EC approved the EC meeting timetable for 2025
  • EC members were updated on the union’s political work
  • The Audit Report was presented to the EC, with discussion on how accounting and auditing could be strengthened across the organisation
  • An update was shared on the TSSA’s eliminating violence in the workplace campaign
  • Membership retention was discussed, including how to improve current retention rates
  • Rule Book alterations from the TSSA Annual Conference 2024 were discussed and the alterations had been accepted
  • Plans for the 2025 TSSA Annual Delegate Conference were discussed
  • The EC reviewed and discussed correspondence received, including: an invitation to send TSSA delegates to the Young Trade Unionists’ May Day Brigade to Cuba 2025, a call to action to offer solidarity with the MUA in their fight against Qube and updates to the Branch and Midland Divisional Council
  • The EC noted the correspondence on the Sussex Branch Details
  • The EC noted the information shared about the railway manifesto and David Gobé for president
  • The EC noted this correspondence about the call for nominations for the Tourism Services Section Officers, Women Transport Workers’ Representative & Young Transport Workers’ Representative
  • The EC agreed to send solidarity with the MUA in their fight against Qube via email
  • The EC noted the correspondence about the final call for participation at ETF Europe
  • The EC noted the correspondence from the North West Divisional Council
  • The EC noted the ITF call to nominations and agreed for Marie Sithole to be nominated for the role of Women Transport Workers’ Representative
  • TSSA staff were asked to seek nominations for TUC Equalities Conferences 2025 from the TSSA membership

EC Meeting Part 2 – Wednesday 18 September 2024

The second day of the EC meeting was used to conduct Governance Training, delivered by Gawain Little, of the GFTU.
