TSSA sends condolences to victims and relatives of India Train Crash

TSSA today sent condolences to survivors and relatives of victims of the train crash in Odisha, India.

At least 288 died and hundreds were injured when two passenger train collided at 7pm local time yesterday.

TSSA Joint Interim General Secretary, Peter Pendle, said, “This is an awful tragedy. Our thoughts are with the survivors, the relatives of those who have sadly died, and the railway workers affected by this awful crash.  The pain and sadness caused by this event will be felt for months to come.

“A tragedy of this magnitude reminds us how important safety on the railway is and we must never allow the pursuit of profits to interfere with that."
