TSSA Executive Committee Meeting – Minutes for Branches/Website

13-14 August 2024, Hybrid meeting – Head Office & Zoom

The August 2024 hybrid TSSA Executive Committee (EC) meeting took place in person at the TSSA London HQ and via Zoom.

EC members attended in person and online, as well as key staff who were presenting different reports and items.

EC meetings tend to be split over two days, and this meeting took place from 13 to 14 August 2024.

The summary below covers the main elements that were discussed during the meeting.

EC Meeting Part 1 – 13 August 2024

Summary of agenda

• Newly elected Executive Committee members – Adam Wilson and Anand Pillai - were welcomed to the EC
• The EC reviewed decisions and actions coming out of the 2024 TSSA Annual Conference
• The EC considered ways to improve communications with members about progress the TSSA has made in progressing outcomes of the conference
• The EC was updated about next steps for the TSSA’s political fund ballot

EC Meeting Part 2 - 14 August 2024

Summary of agenda

• Staff provided an overview of the TSSA workplace violence campaign - this campaign was being prioritised due to the recently released statistics about the increase in violence facing railway staff
• The EC discussed potential improvements to EC subcommittees
• The President provided an update on the outstanding election for the London South seat
• The EC received a report on the TSSA’s membership on the Labour Party’s NEC
• A scrutineers’ report was shared with the EC
• The EC reviewed and discussed correspondence received, including: CND reaffiliation, ITF call for nominations, campaigning around reinstating Winter Fuel Payments and the STUC reaffiliation.
• It was agreed by the EC to re-affiliate to the CND and STUC
• It was agreed by the EC to write to the Government to urge reinstating Winter Fuel Payments
• The EC were updated on a request from a member regarding a benefit grant from the TSSA
