Strike action wrap up 1 October 2022
Pictures and stories from picket lines on Saturday 1 October 2022
Overview
On Saturday 1 October 2022, TSSA members took to picket lines for a day of strike action across our railways. Our voices together were louder and clearer than they have ever been.
Across the country we saw more than 50,000 rail workers from TSSA and our sister unions, RMT and ASLEF, out on strike - more than at any other point in this dispute. The rail network was brought to an almost complete standstill.
TSSA members took strike action in the following companies:
• Avanti West Coast
• EastMidlands Railway
• LNER
• Network Rail (General Grades 5-8 and controllers)
• SouthEastern Railway
• South Western Railway
• TransPennine Express
• West Midlands Trains
Members in Cross Country, GWR and Northern took action short of strike, with more action set for the coming week.
Huge picket lines were seen across the country with many first time pickets out again with high spirits and solid resolve.
