Neurodiversity policies and projects
Policies, procedures and company projects
TSSA has launched a revolutionary scheme to work in partnership with companies who want to make sweeping and embedded changes in their workplaces. The scheme is called “The TSSA Neurodiversity Bargaining Standards”. It focuses on what is currently in the workplace and audits opportunities to make upgrades in policies, procedures, the physical environment and at individual levels. The outcome of the audit process will result in an award of Bronze, Silver or Gold. To find out more click on this link for the brochure. If you are interested in your company taking part contact the Helpdesk.
Policies and Procedures are important in the workplace because they help identify issues that can be experienced, will respond to harassment, discrimination and potential victimisation. It will also assist in colleagues developing acceptance towards neurodiverse colleagues. For Line Managers, it provides guidance and a level of support when they are supporting neurodiverse colleagues themselves.
Policies and Procedures are the foundation to being able to work collaboratively with TU's and the value and resources Equality Reps can bring. Including:
- Running short introductory sessions
- Co-conducting Equality Impact Assessments
- Collaborating and consulting on policies and procedures
Some of the things we have been able to assist within the workplace:
- Being part of the steering committee to determine a proposal on a new procedure in Network Rail for Neurodiversity
- Providing advice and guidance on practical inclusions in a reasonable adjustments document at Network Rail
- Working with Northern Rail to achieve the Bronze Bargaining Standard in Neurodiversity
