Avanti West Coast Strike Mandate

Members in Avanti West Coast stations grades have voted YES to strike action and YES to action short of strike.

Re: Notice of Result of Ballot under Section 231A of the Trades Union & Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.

We confirm that the result of the Ballot is: -

The number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:  123

The number of votes cast in the ballot:  72

The number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:  0

The number of votes cast in the ballot is at least 50% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.

Thus, total number of valid papers to be counted:	72

Numbers voting YES  62 (86.11% of valid vote)

Numbers voting NO    10 (13.89% of valid vote)

                      TOTAL   72 (100% of valid vote)

The number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.

Numbers voting YES  63 (87.5% of valid vote)

Numbers voting NO     9 (12.5% of valid vote)

                      TOTAL   72 (100% of valid vote)


The number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question is at least 40% of the number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot.

TSSA representatives will be discussing an industrial action strategy in the light of this unequivocally positive result.
